On Sunday 13th April, Cancer Card delivered a free health and wellbeing event at RBS Gogarburn Conference Centre for cancer patients and their carers.
The sun was shining and the atmosphere heart-warming, as the organisation welcomed many attendees, presented an incredible line-up of inspirational speakers, featured a fantastic range of cancer support services, and showcased an amazing Pam Millan fashion show.
Cancer Card started as an online support directory created to help cancer patients and their carers find the best cancer support services all in one place. On Sunday, the team was delighted to transform that online directory into an in-person event supporting the cancer community.
The day featured extensive networking and positivity. Several businesses and charities in attendance provided free tutorials such as wig and make-up demonstrations designed to enable and support patients.
Cancer Card received outstanding feedback from the event including:
"Thanks again for hosting such a wonderful event. I am walking out feeling connected, happy, worthwhile and supported."
"Fabulous day; great opportunity to network with all the support that is available."
"Fantastic event, well organised and beautiful surroundings. Fashion show was so emotional, brave ladies." Annie
"Thank you for today. Special thanks to Anna for those 30 seconds, I was me."
"I was apprehensive about coming at first as I live in a small village. I am so glad I did come as I got so much out of it." Anne
"Overall excellent event. I really enjoyed it and met a lot of people"
"Really enjoyed today's event. Good to be around people who understand and care about those living with cancer." M Smith
Cancer Card hopes that attendees found valuable resources and gained support to help with their personal experiences. The organisation encourages people to continue using Cancer Card whenever times get tough.
Those wishing to support Cancer Card's mission can donate to the cause, share its services with their networks, and subscribe to the mailing list for updates.
